What you said about the River Rumble:
“Bigger, longer, and awesome.”
-Corey Buller (Lincoln, Neb.)
“Yet again the River Rumble delivered. It was not only a fun experience and a good way to meet new skaters and watch new styles, but it pushed me, and I’m sure everyone, to learn new tricks and try them in different ways. Thank you to everyone who made it possible, and I’m looking forward to next year!”
-Chris Watts (Bettendorf)
“Shit was way too fun. Park is way to buck. Everyone skated way too hard. Junior’s parents’ tamales were way too good. Mikey got way too robbed. Still love Logan’s skating way too much to care. The edits should be way too ILL! I Want next years comp to come way too soon!”
-Dallas Kilpatrick (Milwaukee, Wis.)
“I don’t even know where to begin on this subject. I have skated with EVERY pro and been to umpteen million contests, but NONE of them hold a candle to the time I had at River Rumble 2010. EVERYONE involved in the process was spot on, from the organizing to the judging, the scene was legit. I was greeted with smiles and daps from every person there, which is not the usual case. I mended some fences, built new bridges and solidified crossings already built. There is sooooooo much love and bond in the Midwest, like a virtual fountain of youth for re-energizing the soul of an aging roller, like myself. I love all of you and miss you dearly in the most “bromosexual” way possible…big ups to all, until next year, where I WILL finally beat DANTE MUSE, who is my inspiration to continue to pummel my body. To quote Greenday-”I had the time of my life.” I am already anticipating The Iowa River Rumble 2011.”
-Kelly Koesis (Phoenix, Ari.)
“New times, great ideas, faster skating, less hot, times change, new faces, old faces, smart water, bums, dogs, more gingers, beers, vodka, slushies, black pants and IOWAT!”
-Andrew Hall (Oneida, Ill.)
“Comp. was bangin’. Even if it wasn’t a comp. just being around that many rollers made my year. Let alone all really cool rollers, that weren’t assholes. Jr’s dad was the man for the food, hella good. I liked the heat idea, I’m a pretty old roller. All the other comps I’ve been in or dealt with have been one roller at a time. I’m down with Kelly’s idea. Night comp!”
-Rob (Omaha, Neb.)
“Congrats to Logan Clark for throwing it down for Iowa. I had a awesome time skating and it was crazy when you soared over twice and somehow did not hit me. It was a little slippery when it rained but besides that it was fucking sick. I enjoyed the photo shoot at Cheung’s and hanging out with all my friends from Iowa Illinois Nebraska and San Fransisco, hint Brian Krans.”
-Brian “Booper” Simonsmeier (Galena, Ill.)
“This year was my second Rumble and my first time commentating and judging. I would have to say it was one of the best times I’ve had with bladers I already knew and others I had just met. The vibe was extremely positive and thank you to everyone for coming, see you next year!”
-Phil Austin (Iowa City)
“Awesome turn out!! It was good to see everyone’s faces, above some blades. Why can’t we do this more often? Thanks to everyone for the support and the juice!”
-Logan Clark (Des Moines)
“Comments comments. Don’t over run the mic. I had a great time judging, although my neck hurts cause of all the madness happening. Couldn’t have asked for better weather, couldn’t have asked for better friends, and strangers are cool too i guess.”
-Junior Terronez (East Moline, Ill.)
“I really don’t see any other state have such a response in numbers and support as Iowa does for rollerblading. It really felt like everyone knew each other, and we all just skated and had fun, no stupid drama. For that, I am grateful to have come up in such a community of great people.”
-Alex LaBore (Cedar Rapids)
“Full of good friends, great skating, gang violence, and last but not least… 2nd degree SUNBURN!”
-A.J. Keane (Harlan)
